2020-2021: Arise my love, and soar.

soar

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free…” Luke 4:18

2020 has changed our understanding of what is normal, of what life can be like. Perhaps we have felt confused and frustrated, but maybe we have also experienced peace and rest. Rest from what was, and imagination to see what can be. Perhaps this is just the beginning of something else entirely, and we must relearn to navigate the world with eyes wide open, just like a child. But will we walk, and stumble if we have to, with the faith of children? And who knows, maybe along the way, we will learn to fly.

Once we were a barren land
Dry from disappointment
But heaven like a heavy rain
Revealed your heart for us
Now we’re dusting off our instruments
In you we found our will to live
What was once a wilderness
Is seeming with new life
‘Cause you are mending the broken-hearted
You are making all things new
And you’re rebuilding out of the ruins
A city of hope with the ones you love
